What is spray tanning?

Airbrush tanning, often called spray tanning or sunless tanning, is a process by which a DHA based solution is airbrushed on to the skin via an automated system or HVLP tanning equipment. When the airbrush tanning solution is sprayed onto the skin, a safe, natural, sunless tan develops.

What is DHA?

It is a colorless sugar that makes the magic happen in the self-tanning process. DHA reacts with skin proteins, including amino acids, in the outermost layer of skin. The reaction develops brown skin coloring that looks very similar to a natural tan.

How long will the spray tan last?

A spray tan fades just like a tan from the sun. Depending upon the individual's rate of exfoliation, 7-10 days and sometimes longer depending on how you care for it. Healthy, moist skin will retain a tan better then dry skin.

What do I wear during a spray tanning session?

The client can wear either an old swimsuit, dark undergarments, or disposables while being sprayed.

How long does it take to apply?

The spray will take approximately 10 minutes. The drying time takes 5-7 minutes

How soon can you shower after a spray tan?

Giving the DHA solution time to react will ensure the best results. Allow 6-8 hours after your tanning session for Fake Bake and Melange solutions before showering, unless you decide to choose the Australian solution with which you can shower in 2 hours.

What should you do to prepare for a spray tanning session?

For optimal results the person's skin should be clean and free from moisturizers, make-up, deodorant and exfoliated.

On the night prior to the tanning session, you should shower, exfoliate, and shave.

How do you maintain your spray tan?

After the first post-tan shower, apply moisturizer daily. Hydrated skin is essential in maintaining a longer lasting tan. To maximize the results the client should use a tan extending moisturizer, drink plenty of water, and try to avoid contact with harsh chemicals that will strip the skin of its beautiful new color. Please remember that airbrush tanning is not meant to protect your skin from the sun, and I highly recommend the use of sun block daily to protect the health of your skin.

Are there any harmful effects of this products?

Dermatologists will enthusiastically agree that tanning with a dihydroxy formulation is much safer than tanning for prolonged hours in the sun. We are very conscientious about safety, health, and environmental issues. For this reason, we are using a natural and organically based product to ensure a safe tan and to promote healthy skin.
